Well, what is "normal" depends on languages. In Japanese, Chinese, Korean,
etc., characters should be always printed upright regardless of the line
orientation.
Also, if my knowledge is correct, there exists the "upper-right" +
"horzontal" situation in Arabic, while the character orientation is
upright.
