Guido and Kei,

I can see the point and agree that the engine "knows" the path of the
application and so replace the "~" with the real thing. I also agree that
this is quite convenient for porting the applications to another path.

However, is it really so that the scope of an Application (this is what "~"
means) is defined from the engine, not the Application object itself?
