we are facing a number of interesting discussions in the last weeks on
MHEG-5 and possible changes. The discussion is apprechiated quite much.
However, the time for the touchdown is near...: the next MHEG meeting
(actually in Edinburgh, dec 7 to 11) is supposed to result in a
technical corrigenda, which is more or less the last word from ISO for a
while.
I would like to introduce a kind of procedure to consider the input from
the users community for the corrigendum. Since the formal way (make a
contribution via the NB to ISO) is closed anyway, my suggestion is the
following - for those who want to raise an issue:
* write a text covering the following:
- identification of the issue
- identfication why a "fix" or a "clarification" is required
- propose the solution
- clear identification of the sections in the IS where the changes
would have to be applied
- provide examples
* make this text available to Tom Casey and Andreas Kraft via EMail
before Friday, 4th, 15:00 MET.
* make this text available to me via FAX (+49 30 3463 8211) before
Friday, 4th, 15:00 MET.
Keep in mind that the Corrigendum aims to clarify and to fix issues as
conservative as possible. Due to that it is certainly not a good idea to
suggest something which would change the encoding or soemthing like
this.
I will not attend the Edinburgh meeting, and Andreas (corrigendum
editor) leaves for UK this weekend. This is the reason for the deadline.
This is also the reason why we can most likely not finalise the
discussion on the maillist.
Please note the following: The contributions you may want to make may be
considered, but there is no obligation for this due to the ISO
procedures. It depends on the ISO working group how this late-material
would be considered.
All the best,
- Klaus
