Re: deadline approaching...

Dear colleagues,

please be assured about the following:

* the Corrigendum which is supposed to be finalised in a week from
now is a Corrigendum. That narrows the scope of the document to
clarification and small repair tasks. No new functionality or
features should be added to the IS.

* the requirements of the UK DTT will be considered. Please note
that some of the delegates are representing companies involved
in the UK DTT, and that the ISO group has decided to meet in
Edinburgh (UK).

* the formal ISO procedures will be considered as usual. Nevertheless,
input which contributes to find the best possible solution is
welcomed at any time.

* the procedure which I have invented in my recent message to
provide such contributions is supposed to ease the identification
of useful input. It is clear that such contributions have no
official status, but the whole process should benefit from the
input and the work and the ideas of the MUG-folks. I believe that
this is procedure helps the ISO group to manage the input. It is
not possible for the ISO group to follow the discussion from
the mailling list, since the conclusion of the discussions is
seldom available in a compact form.

* the proposed deadline is set to make sure that the MUG-folks
are aware of the time constraints.

* according to the planing made by the active SC29WG12 members the
Edinburgh meeting should solve the raised issues. The upcoming
Tokyo meeting is supposed to address MHEG-7. I am confident that
this is possible, given that the group continues to cooperate.
I do not believe that a slow-down of the process or a delay of
decisions to follow-up meetings would help.

Bye,
- Klaus
